Blogging? What's That?

If I hear one more person sigh dramatically and lament that their favorite bloggers never update any more, I might just scream post quickly to appease them.

Truth of the matter is that 2L year is an interesting creature. While I don't feel the need to read for go to class, I do seem to have 87 other things to attend. Add to that an untimely summer cold, and you have a very busy Ruth who really doesn't feel like doing anything other than sleeping and consuming mass amounts of chicken noodle soup. (The Campbell's kind, because trust me, ramen is NOT mmm-mmm-good.) So unlike last year, reading doesn't take up all my time (or any time at all, really), but clinic, journal, interviews, and receptions do.

So I'm trying to save my energy for the few interviews I managed to scrape together, and I find that I'm not really up to being clever when I'm coughing up my left lung and having to deal with way too many fluids from my nose.

And now my battery is about to go dead, and I can't be bothered to get up and find a plug.

Antonin's not suffering from the Cold From Hell, though, so feel free to pester him about updating. :P

Less complaining about blogging and more blogging.

Whoa... we've got two UT trolls now? I'm not sure I can handle all that.

And I happen to adore the Texas Blawg Review guys in real life, but their blog has nothing on ours. ;)

Glad to see that the complaining got some notice. :)

There can only be one person as awesome as I. I thought you could see the IP address of commentators. Guess not...

Blogger Ruth said...

Not right here on the page. I can find the IP addresses, but it takes time and effort, and I should be looking up the firm I'm interviewing with tomorrow instead of answering blog comments. But guess which of the two activities is more fun?

Anonymous UT troll said...

Neither... unless you clarify the scope of answering blog comments to just those posted by the great UT troll.

Where is this firm located? I'm such the firm-info-junkie; it's pretty pathetic.

Both are in Dallas. One I know enough about, the other I haven't really looked at much at all. Except to put in my application.

D is a fucking blast.

1 Baker Botts L.L.P.
2 Vinson & Elkins L.L.P.
3 Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P.
4 Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP
5 Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP
6 Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati
7 Jones Day
8 Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP
9 Andrews Kurth LLP
10 Bracewell & Giuliani LLP

do they happen to be any of those firms?

Blogger Ruth said...

I already interviewed with one, but the other two are not on the list. LOL. One actually may be in Austin. Shit. I really ought to check that. ::facepalm::

Good job! :::thumbs up:::

Do you know how many 2L positions they're hiring for that office?

11:39 PM
Blogger Ruth said...

Sorry, not #1 on the list, but one of those on the list. Baker Botts wanted some sort of top percent or another. I can't be bothered with firms that don't accept average students. :P

And I've no idea how many 2Ls anyone is hiring. I was pretty anti-firm until this past Monday. *snort*

Anonymous UT troll said...

anti-firm? treehugger.

You should be able to find out the number of 2L positions they're looking to fill here:

All major firms fill the forms out. The boutiques like B&B and SG don't, because they're too good for us lowly students.

11:57 PM
Blogger Ruth said...

Not a tree-hugger, really. Just not excited about stuff like 2100 billables per year. *vomits* Found out that some firms are a bit more reasonable, and suddenly things didn't seem so bad. :P

OMG, why am I still awake? I should be getting plenty of sleep to help kick this cold. *sigh*

Anonymous UT troll said...

Nobody is excited about 2100 supposed billables/2250 actual billables... that's why they pay you hush money.

Why are you awake? Hmm, if it's because talking to UT troll every 25 mins is entertaining, you need some help. Go sleep! Hope you get better.

Seriously go, because I need to fucking read, since I'm about, oh, 4 days behind....

At least you know how far behind you are.

I have no idea where my crim pro class is, or whether I'll go to class tomorrow or not.

And on that note... my pillow calls to me.

I'm always amused when anonymous commenters tell someone what's lame and what's not.

Yeah, because all the cool kids go around and anonymously comment in blogs, pointing out when people are being lame. Riiight. No soup for you, Anon.

comet - You better have an update soon. With AC no longer posting about GOOG searches, it may pass up TBR soon.

love to see this discussion! It’s great to see you all working through the issues and also, it’s great to see recommendations for testing. In the end, it’s what your actual users do and prefer that should be your biggest driver in making these decisions.
